Promoting the Partnership, a Norwegian Delegation from the Norwegian People’s Aid and the Norwegian Union of Municipal and General Employees (NUMGE) visited the PCDCR

A Norwegian delegation from the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) and the Norwegian Union of Municipal and General Employees (NUMGE) represented by Ms. Silvia Ostberg Morales, Country Director of NPA, Mr. Finn Erick Thoresen, Chairman of NPA, Ms. Kathrine Raadim, Director, International Programme Department, Mr. Stein Guldbrandsen, Executive Board Member of NUMGE  and number of employees visited the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution where they met Mr. Saed Al Magadma, Director General, Mr. Eyad Abu Hjair, Head of Gaza Branch and Vice President, Mr. Abed Al Monem Al Tahrawi, Projects Manager, and number of the Center employees. The visit took place at the Center’s headquarter in Gaza city.

This visit comes as a part of promoting the strategic partnership between both parties which started since 2007 and continued till now. The delegation made a visit to some of the Center’s activities and met with the beneficiaries of the project services which is funded by NUMGE. Moreover, the delegation represented by Director of NPA in Palestine praised the strategic relationship between both parties emphasizing on their appreciation for the services provided by PCDCR in the field of Women Competing Violence. 

On his turn, Mr. Saed Al Magadma showed his appreciation for this partnership which is based on the participatory relationship between both parties not only on the funding concept.    

The visit which lasted for 5 hours finished by meeting the delegation with a group of activist youth who presented their views of the Palestinian youth cases generally. In addition, the delegation met with a number of ladies beneficiaries from the project services.

Furthermore, Mr. Abed Al Monem Al Tahrawi highlighted his view for the future relationship with the NPA assuring on the extended relationship connecting between both parties especially NPA staff in Gaza city who provides a continuous and great cooperation with the Center’s staff. At the end of this visit, souvenirs, with a patriotic style of the Palestinian heritage, are distributed to both parties.


Setting up the summer camp for children with disabilities in PCDCR

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution opened ” the summer camp for children with disabilities” in partnership with Save the Children on Sunday 7TH July 2016 in Dolphin Resort ” Let’s play .. Let’s have fun ” , which aims to improve access opportunities to the protection and health services for children with disabilities in the Gaza Strip , The camps targeted six areas of the camp in Gaza strip which is one of the most frailty areas. The number of participants in the camp is 165 boys and girls are children with disabilities ,and 135 are hale, and the age group is ” 9-14 years” and the camp will continue for a whole month, this camp is one of the best camps for this year in that it includes recreational , sports activities and a variety of other activities in order to promote active participation , development , reintegrate of this group in society and also provides an opportunity for children with disabilities to engage in the normal life and provide an opportunity for the hale children to identify children with disabilities up close and appreciate their problems and help them to cope with the difficulties of life in order to promote their right to play and integration in the community through the merger to promote a positive feeling for the children and that children with disabilities exist in society ” affects and is affected ” , and displaces a lot of ideas and impressions about himself that may be acquired it in the isolation .

Training the ” Alliance Group” for monitoring and documenting child rights violations in Gaza strip

Today began the implementation of the training program to improve the capacity of the “Alliance group” for monitoring and documenting child rights violations within the activities and events of the project ” protect my right ” and that is reflected on the indeed of children’s rights which paves the way for the initiatives during the next six months, the first day discussed democracy and components and measuring the extent of the application on the Palestinian reality.


PCDCR Concluded Training Course About Concepts of Disability and Related Issues.


(Gaza Strip, 1 June 2016)- The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution (PCDCR) concluded a series of training sessions on “Enhancing summer camps counselors’ skills and knowledge about disability and the related issues and how to implement summer camps activities for children with disabilities”. The training program continued for 4 days, and targeted 18 counselors, and it was a part of the project “Improved access to protection and health for children with special needs in Gaza”, implemented by Handicap International. The project aims to enhance resilience and reduce protection and health risks for the most venerable boys and girls in Gaza Strip, in order to improve the psychological wellbeing and coping of targeted children and their families in the vulnerable and marginalized areas.

PCDCR Concludes Training Course Entitled ” Training of Facilitators/ Trainers”

On Wednesday, 6th April 2016, the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution (PCDCR) concluded a training course entitled “Training of Facilitators/ Trainers” as part of a project funded by the European Union and titled as ” the Elected President” in partnership with Central Elections Commission-Palestine. The 15-hour training course was held in PCDCR’s training hall “Gaza branch” from 04 to 06 April 2016 and 20 participants attended the course.

The program of the training course addressed a number of topics: elections as an element of democracy, the legal logic of elections, electoral systems and their advantages and disadvantages, voters’ registration, the electoral campaign, elections monitoring, and elections controls.

A team of specialized trainers in PCDCR supervised the training. Mr. Abdel Men’m Al-Tahrawi began the training talking about the project, its objectives, and the target group which is represented by universities students and Civil Society Institutions’ staff. He explained that a number of awareness raising sessions about elections will be held including an imitation of elections law while the elected will grant the opportunity to play the role of president. Besides, Al-Tahrawi emphasized on the necessity of having training and facilitation skills in addition to the necessity of addressing people in the language they can understand. He added that the facilitator/trainer has to recognize facilitation techniques such as: brainstorming, free association, and groups discussions.

The participants praised PCDCR distinctive role in disseminating elections culture and rule of law. Moreover, they emphasized that the course is characterized by its richness topics and the efficiency of the trainers. In addition, they appreciated the use of interactive training methods since they had an active participation and discussion during the training course sessions. PCDCR Signs an Understanding Memorandum for Training Sharia’ Lawyers

The Palestinian center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution (PCDCR) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Sharia’ Higher Judicial Council and the Palestinian Higher Judicial Institute. This memorandum comes within the efforts to develop the abilities of Sharia’ lawyers.

Under the agreement, it was settled to hold eight training sessions for Sharia’ lawyers. The training sessions will target 300 lawyers-in-training in order to develop the skills and abilities of Sharia’ lawyers who are on the verge of the occupational exam. Its mention worthy that the memorandum was signed by Mr. Iyad Abu Hujjayer, head of PCDCR in Gaza, with Mr. Hasan El Jojo, Chairman of the Supreme Council for the Islamic courts, and Mr. Nafez El Madhoun, Dean of the Palestinian Higher Judicial Institute.

The implementation and supervision of the training sessions will be in cooperation with UNDP and PAPP, but PCDCR will be responsible for registration process and receiving enrollment applications. The training program will include several topics like Law of personal status, Family law, Sharia’ procedures law, endowment, inheritance, wills and law enforcement.

Training sessions will be given by different courts judges, including Mr. Saeed abu El Jabeen, a Supreme Sharia Court judge, Mr. Ibrahim El najjar, Head of Supreme Court of Appeal in Khan Younis, Mr. Salah abu Hasheesh, a Supreme Sharia Court judge, Mr. Omar Nofal, Head of Court of Appeal in Gaza, Mr. Nafez El Madhoun, and Mr. Rami Salouha.
