Children Committee to Resist Violence

Executive party:Women Programs Center

The team of the initiative formed a committee for children to resist violence through publishing a brochure and poster to announce about the committee which will include joining conditions. The committee will be formed via elections and training courses in order to select distinguished children.

This project gave children the opportunity to express their opinions. It also educates them about the notion of voluntary work and trains them to execute voluntary campaigns.
Field and home visits concentrated to educate people about child rights and to form a committee of parents to sustain children committee. The initiative team will announce about this project through radio series on one of the local radio stations. A magazine that documents the activities of the committee will be published periodically.

All the activities concluded by a final celebration that will be announced in the near future.

Started with ((I don’t need help)) and finished with ((Wish you more success))

I need nobody to help me; I trust nobody. You all give me hope and then just disappear like a mirage. You only leave me pain and disability to stand up and walk.

I do not believe it. I am walking. I am in the center of Gaza City, standing up alone, walking and running.

I love you and thank you.

Do not marvel of this contradiction. In the first attitude, it’s Sadeya ((the hopeless)) after I have tried medicine and medicaments that did not work.

In the second attitude, I am Saadeya who have been born again by those wonderful people who work in the protection team’s project and who helped me a lot through support and psychological guidance and now I am capable of standing up and walking after my hopelessness.

All what I can say that I love you all and thank you a lot and I say that there are still tens of cases like mine who need your help.

Sadeya Dawood

I am Um Leila. I have attended one of the awareness sessions in Deir Al-Balah city about child rights and the effects of violence and violation on child. At the end of the sessions, I talked with the Psychologist and told her about my son case and how he shocked due to the Israeli bombardment and then he was disabled to talk. Now it is the third year that my son is living in a case of sudden dumbness.

She went with me to home and started talk and psychological support sessions with my son. These sessions continued through 2 months. Now I am writing my words while my son is talking to me.

No words can express my happiness but I can only say ((thank you a lot and wish you success in your wonderful work))

Um Leila

Thank You

My duty is to do what ever it takes to solve problems – to hear complaints –but finally to make women feel comfort and tranquil -to help them to understand their rights, said the social worker

The husband said: Thank you, the Palestinian Centre for Democracy and Conflict Resolution. Thank you, I promise before God to respect my wife and my children

I do not know how much time lasted until I get help, by those words the wife explained her story that ended by a smile and started by scream and cry “please help me I will lost my husband , children and even my life”.

The wife aged of 24 years- old tried to explain her problem that started saying we were like any other couple in the world but his family intervened in our life especially his mother that offended me verbally and the situation gradually escaladed until my husband started to beat me severely and then accused me that I betrayed him.

What happened to me!!! This was my question when I wake up in the hospital looking around me “‘hoping to see my children, my husband”…my mother gave me a glass of water saying don’t worry, you are now with your family.

I stayed their three days and after that I returned to my family home where my father obliged me to start the divorce papers … I just want my family back !!!

Her father will not stop the divorce measures until to be sure that her husband will respect and love her (no more beating or accusations) ……her husband was blind with family problems, forgot how much his wife is loving him…. !!

I forgot time and my concern was how to help this woman to protect herself and in the same time to get all the family members together again and to convince the husband and make him aware that his wife has rights as him, said the social worker.

After mediations with both families, problems still didn’t solve so the solution is to target the husband and make him a ware of the consequences particularly on children.

Please stay with us (the Palestinian Center), we still need you, these were her words after her first meeting with her children where her husband agreed to let her see them …

The husband talks with his wife and she accepted his apologize; they decided to make their home better not only for them but also for their children. The centre and the husband started a research for a home that will make the couple feel comfortable and safe, far away from any intervention of their families and both attended sessions that help them. They understood that if their families care they will not be an obstacle in front of their happiness.

Please, consider me as a friend to the Center

She left a paper in front of me in one of our women workshop.(said the social worker)

Here came the surprise : Please call me , many answers stroked my head and I can not find an answer to even one question.

(The social worker) I entered the office without hesitation and redialed the phone number , a voice of women who welcomed me said ((I’m not okay!!!..)), so it was a response to one of my head questions.

She came to the office and tells us a story of family (her family) that most of her members are handicaps and asked us to visit the family.

My husband , his family , everyone hates me , all accused me that I gave birth to handicaps children.

I married twenty years ago , a man, fleshy , short, but he was kind, husband ,then father , I gave birth to four males and three females , males were handicaps and four beautiful females wonderful , Blondes , after ten years of my marriage my husband started to change and abuse me verbally and physically !!

My husband died suddenly ,his family threw me out of the house , threw the luggage , my boys and girls were thrown into the street , no one helped us expect my poor family. They tried several times to get my right and my children rights without results.

Is it true that it is my fault! They are my lovely children, healthy or not healthy they are, I don’t care.

Her words affected me and my colleges and we started the mediations process with her husband family but meanwhile we have to help them to understand that it is not her fault and the children are gift from God.
They were lifted to live in a miserable place that is not healthy or even safe for their condition and she is suffering alone without any aide.

Years passed, she knows nothing about the uncles of her children and she said ((please speak instead of me with them, make them understand our pain , our need , I need your help as a mother and as a woman)).

After many interventions and visits to their uncle by the Center team, he expressed his regret toward his brother’s wife and children and asked for forgiven.

He promised to start serious steps towards correcting the situation under the supervisor of the Palestinian Center. The Center helped the wife and her children to return to their old home safely and helped the children to get the required assistance medically and physically.

Please, consider me as a friend to the Center and let me to explain my story for everyone , I remember the difference between the past and the present and I have hope for the future. God bless you!! (said the women with pleasant smile).

I hate her ..I will kill her .. Help me

A girl aged 17-year-old, is suffering of wrong ideas and strange desire and determination to kill her fiancé’s mother after marriage…

She even has plans how to end her life!!

((I hate her ,she is always innerving between me and my future husband, why I have to stand her ,she is dominated him and am sick of her insulting me ))

The girl thought that things will never change or solve, she talked through telephone (Toll free) expressing her feeling and afraid to be known, threaten to do what she is planning to.

The team, after a long process, convinced her to meet in the Center and after awhile the team convinced her family to wait until they can help their daughter and even help her future husband before something bad happen and make them all regret for not asking for help.

She is suffering of abuse, pressure, violence and psychological problems but after psychological intervention and follow-up extension via meetings and telephone, her bad ideas started to be replaced by more positive ideas.

She even started to think if this is the propel person to marry or not and she learned that problems can be solved far away from violence.

She has reached that he is not her future husband, since he has an dependent personality belongs to his mother, irresponsible, cannot solve problems encountered, not trusted or depended upon, and the most important that she understood she is still young and need more stability.

Her family accepted to let her complete her study and to have new ideas to a new better life.
