Workshop entitled ” Juveniles’ status in Palestinian Laws”

PCDCR implemented a workshop under the title of Juveniles’ status in Palestinian Laws with the attendance of PCDCR lawyers, members of General Prosecution, judges and officers in Ministry of Interior on June 15th Khan Younes.

The lawyer, Khaled El Astal pointed out the main Palestinian laws concerning juveniles and in application. He asserted that the center is ready to present legal services to them under the coordination of General Prosecution and Ministry of Interior.

Officers in Ministry of Interior highlighted to their treatment with juveniles while interrogation in Police stations. They also affirmed the importance of rewriting and activating the laws in order to be applicable until enacting new laws. Whereas the applied law was enacted since 1937.
They also asserted to the role of both civil society organizations to protect the juveniles.

PCDCR Signed Agreement with UNDP

PCDCR has signed an agreement with UNDP for the project ” Justice for All” on 2nd June 2011.
The project aims at building capacities for law students, graduates, police officers and judges. It will also work on raising the awareness of victimized women, local institutions, professional associations and youth groups regarding their rights and the mechanism of reaching the justice.

it will also target people in sensitive and vulnerable areas who could not reach the justice which affect them socially and psychologically. For instance, women has a vulnerable role in the male- dominated society and the juveniles were treated as smirch for their families.
